One of the most exciting, creative, and impressive shows in Tarpon Springs these days can be found right on the campus of our high school. Whether they are heard practicing in the hallways after school every day, performing during the halftime show at the home football games, or competing against other bands around the country, students have had the opportunity to see all the talent on display. The bands’ performance of their show “Awakening” has shown that this year Tarpon’s Outdoor Performance Ensemble has earned their spot as one of America’s best marching bands.
The theme of the performance this season was called “Awakening.” The band and color guard members dressed in their fun costumes and included platforms, risers, props, choreography, and great music skills to bring the whole show together. Several soloists showed off their musical skills during the show, and two drum majors led the band with pride all season. All of that detail led to an impressive show that excited fans every week at Tarpon football games. But that isn’t the only place where the band impressed their audience.
Tarpon’s Performance Ensemble also competed in band competitions locally and nationally. It takes a lot of hours of practice to bring a show like they have to life, and their efforts were recognized over and over again. Most recently, the band traveled to Indianapolis, IN to compete at the Bands of America competition where they came in 1st place in their division and 4th place overall across the entire country.
Whether they were performing for the students at Tarpon or on a national stage, Tarpon’s Outdoor Performance Ensemble gave an incredible show this season that earned them their continued recognition as one of America’s best marching bands in the country.
