Hurricane Ian was a category 5 storm. Tt hit many places and caused sadness, broken houses, broken boats, and many people without homes or belongings. Luckly people have been going to the places that were hit the worst to help clean up and bring food and supplies! There was one death of a 72-year-old man, he fell into a canal while using a hose to drain his pool, in the heavy rain!

There are rescue boats and helicopters to look around for people who may have been injured or lost. Hospitals had to move the sickest patients up onto the higher floors, hospitals were packed and overwhelmed! Plus, hurricane Ian, the injured people from that would also be in the hospitals.

At the Florida Fawcett hospital in Port Charlotte, the storm surge flooded the lower-level emergency room, while fierce winds tore part of the fourth roof from its intense care unit, according to Dr Birgit Bodine.

The Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, gave a briefing saying there were “At least 700 rescues, mostly by air”. Joe Biden, USA president, said Hurricane Ian “could be the deadliest hurricane in Florida’s history.”
